This piece transpired out of my fascination with wear patterns of metal wheels on metal surfaces. Originally I wanted to make the caster move in a figure ‘8’ pattern. After getting frustrated with a mechanism that turned out more complicated than expected, I decided to make it just go back and forth. I added the head and shoulders after running it for about 3 months in my studio.
